The horizontal axis of the main graph represents time (starting from some time in 2004), and the vertical is how often a term is searched for relative to the total number of searches, globally.<A href="#cite_note-3"><span>[3]</span></A> Below the main graph, popularity is broken down by region, city and language. It is possible to refine the main graph by region and time period. On August 5, 2008, Google launched Google Insights for Search, a more sophisticated and advanced service displaying search trends data.</p> <p><b>Google Insights for Search</b> is a service by Google similar to Google Trends<A href="#cite_note-4"><span>[4]</span></a>, providing insights into the search terms people have been entering into the Google search engine. Unlike Google Trends, Insights for Search provides a visual representation of regional interest on a country's map. It displays top searches and rising searches that may help with keyword research. Results can be narrowed down with categories that are displayed for each search terms. It has been noted that term order is important, and that different results will be found if the results are keywords are placed in a different order.<A href="#cite_note-5"><span>[5]</span></a><br > </p> <p><b>Compete.com</b> is a web traffic analysis service of Compete, Inc. which operates in the United States and publishes the approximate number of global visitors to the top 1,000,000 web sites in the world.
